Movie Ticket for One

Yesterday I got a chance to practice my democratic right to vote. It was South African elections day, and we got the day off we have been having so many public holidays lately I guess that’s why I have been so lazy. I am not much of a politics girl, but South Africa celebrates 20 years of democracy this year which is a  huge milestone, considering where we as a country have come. Even though politically things are not great they are still better in my opinion to what they used to be. All those that didn’t vote you are fools and lost your voice to complain about anything and really need to rethink voting. (side note vent)

So I made it to the voting station with no hassle or fuss was easy in and easy out and then could relax the rest of the day. I decided to take myself out and go watch a movie. Have you ever gone to a movie by yourself??? I think it was the first time I went alone and really enjoyed being by myself. I went to watch the new Zac Efron Movie called That Awkward Moment. It was an awesome chick flick movie I have not watched one in a good while.

It highlights the typical Hook up culture that we live in today. Three guys decide to make a bet  to stay single while the one guy goes through a divorce. Ironically that is a lot harder than they think it would be. They all start falling in love or try to get back with the ex- it’s hilarious as they try to be these player types to each other and in retrospect they all good guys who just want to be loved, but not give up their single status. Which I think typically describes the majority of this worlds guys today. Let me know if you agree or what your opinion is on the “Hook Up Culture?”

If you looking for a cool funny chick flick movie, I recommend you go check it out.

Peace love and Happiness

  1. Yes, I have gone to see about 2 movies all by myself. The first time I thought it would be strange but the movie was so funny and I’ve got a good sense of humour and before I know it, I was laughing out loud and didn’t have a care in the world. We were only a few people in the cine and it made it easier as there were 2 or more people also by themselves. It was a moment when I just needed to be alone. The 2nd time was easier. I even had a meal by myself with either my phone as company or a magazine. I even felt like that yesterday too. I just felt fed-up with everything and everyone. One is allowed to have these moments. The best thing one can do is be by yourself, either watching a movie or retail therapy. The plan was to get up early, go vote and off to Canal Walk..my favourite mall but alas I had a late nite watching boring TV and thus overslept. So I headed off to CPT International with my mom to book myself in the Oryx Lounge as I will be in transit for 6hours. The airline helpdesk was closed and opened in 1 1/2hours so I took my mom for a leisurely lunch at OceanBasket until the airline helpdesk opened. I willfully ignored the fact that I will be paying an exorbitant fee for parking. I pretended I was rich for the day and decided I’m not gonna stress about that. I ended up having a pleasant day sitting by the window watching the comings and goings of passengers and people coming to say goodbye or welcoming family/friends/loved ones. I eventually got to the helpdesk but could still not book the Lounge as Doha Airport is being rebuilt. I can do the booking telephonically once the new airport is operation 27 May. I leave 1 June. I did get to ask other concerns I had. I feel much more confident about my impending trip alone. So all in all my day worked out well. I know I said more than just going to the movies alone but I wanted to tell you how my day worked out well even tho that’s not what I had planned. Maybe you can do a blog on being rich for a day and do just what people do who are rich and not worry about tomorrow….pending obviously that you do have enough to see you through for the rest of the month. It was so nice to adopt that care-free attitude. It felt empowering and worry-free.
