Hello, all you Sun-Kissed Souls.
Today I am sharing my 8 personal, realistic, Wellness Healthstyle Tips, to help you cultivate your own good habits.
I am no guru on this specific topic and can only speak from my personal experience. Disclaimer I am not perfect I fall off the bandwagon often I beat myself up for silly things my battle with my fluctuating weight has been a problem I have been struggling with my entire life. Feeling good about who I am as a person has also been a struggle because in general, I put a lot of pressure on myself to do my best at all I do. This stems from an incident back in my childhood that I am finally getting over. That’s a story for another day. I am a work in progress, and I have been doing pretty well this year.
What is wellness?
You may have heard this word becoming a lot more popular these days but what is wellness really? Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. “…a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” The World Health Organization
I love this definition from the World Health Organization.
What does Wellness mean to me?
The definition above pretty much sums it up, but to me, in short, it’s cultivating a healthy body mind and soul. You can’t do one without the other.
How I started my wellness health style journey .
About a year ago I was feeling very depressed out of sync with life not motivated to create, and I didn’t like how I was feeling. My body, mind, and soul were fighting with each other there was no connection. I lost my zest for life.
Below are 8 tips that helped me,bring myself back to life and put me on my wellness Healthstyle Journey.
1. Become more self-aware.
Old habits when falling into this depressive state, it triggers my bad habits of emotional eating staying in bed isolating myself from socializing and just general feelings of “MEH” complaining about my feelings not actually feeling them. Be aware of what triggers these feelings because once you can pinpoint what the cause is you can do something about it.
2. Start doing something.
Once you have become self-aware of your feelings and listening to yourself stop the self-sabotage and start doing something. My first step was starting to get back into my morning routine. Morning wake up Yoga, shower, prep breakfast, and lunch and sit down and journal and do my devotional. The book the purpose driven life indeed brought me back to life. Reading and answering the questions truthfully helped me find focus. This helped get my mind right and get back in touch with my Christian beliefs.
3. Fitness and weight loss.
Before I wanted a quick fix because I programmed my mind to tell my body, I hate exercise, so I had to shift my perception of training. Also trying different things helps, find things that you like. Make simple changes like try walking more take the stairs. If you make these small changes, they all add up and when you get that happy endorphins triggered you will start enjoying it.
4. Food
Something I am still figuring out. I use Pinterest to help me find good tasty, healthy food to make. I have also tried to swop my dinners and lunches around. Before I would generally eat a smaller lunch and a bigger meal for dinner. I can’t work out after eating a big meal. Typical things I eat are; salads, roast vegetables, and chicken, wraps, hummus, and carrots and cucumber sticks, soups and smoothies. (I have been eating lots of sweets and chocolates lately and I am trying to be more mindful of my eating habits.) Weekends I tend to eat out and not be too strict, but in the week I try to stick to what I have meal prepped. I do have a crazy sweet tooth and still trying to find a healthy alternative. So if you guys know anything that may work for you, please let me know willing to try anything at this point.
5. Mindfulness.
Dictionary definition; ” mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.”
In this microwave age, we live in today. It is so easy to get distracted and have your mind focused on a thousand things. Having your phone notifications going crazy and being in a frantic mental overload. I have been there. Being present is hard. Try with small steps when hanging out with friends put your phone away be in the conversation. When out in nature before snapping a million pictures take a deep breath and take it all in be grateful and then take your pictures.
I heard this beautiful saying from one of Oprah’s Soulful Conversations PodCast. “Mindfulness is a love affair with life.” Fall back in love with your life it starts by actually being present in it.
6. Love Yourself.
Tell yourself you love yourself every day until you believe it. Be kind to yourself. The way you speak to yourself controls every outward action. Be confident remember you have a place in this world and your walk on this new wellness health style is a forever thing there is no end. It is continuous work to help yourself live your best life. Be patient don’t beat yourself up when you fall just don’t stay down start again.
7. Surround yourself with positive people.
Who you spend your time with is so important. You need people who will motivate you not to crush your hopes and dreams and try to compete with you always. You need real authentic people that will call you out on your BS because they care, people that will comfort you and push you and hold you accountable. Having an accountability partner really helps me stay motivated. Letting go of judgments and comparisons will help you so much.
8. Why.
Remember your WHY. Example; if you are trying to look HOT to get that guy this is not a sustainable WHY. Or if you are trying to be Insta famous for validation, this is not a healthy WHY. Define you’re WHY? Why do you want to cultivate a wellness health style? Then return back to your WHY when you feel low or demotivated. For me it’s not about being INSTA famous or showcasing my body in bikinis on my pictures, yes I am proud of myself for feeling confident in myself, but there is so much more to it.
My WHY
When my body mind and soul are healthy, I feel full and ready to take on every obstacle in life. I feel motivated and driven to share my journey with all of you. Being healthy helps me perform at life better. I am better at giving people advice. I am a better friend, a better teacher and an all-around better person to be around. To live out my purpose driven life one that is God-centered I need to be at my best. So I am ready for all that God has planned for me. My life of travel and missions require me to be at my best. Potentially taking HER SUN-KISSED SOUL to the next level business-wise I need to be mentally physically and spiritually ready. So whenever I feel discouraged or lack motivation I remember WHY, I am transforming my life, it’s not only beneficial for myself but for everyone around me too.
There you have it my top 8 tips to help you get on with your wellness health style. Please let me know anything that you do that enables you to perform at your best. I am always ready to learn and try new things.

Peace, Love and Happiness

Food is super important for wellness. That is number one for me. You have to have the proper fuel for your body. I started making changes in my diet a year ago. They were all welcome changes for my family.
Yes I agree with you sometimes just the small changes can go a long way! I know for me if I don’t meal prep I am preparing to fail and will eat all the bad things!
