We keeping this weeks Musical Monday instalment local “coz local is lekker” lol
As you must be aware by now, Courteney is a dancer dancing for Out Of Africa Dance Academy. Fusion X is a dance crew formed at the Academy. They have been very blessed to get asked to dance back up for any performances they have on this morning news and lifestyle show called Expresso. They were asked to perform with two of SA’s biggest hip hop artists AKA and Da L.E.S on the show this morning.
Early morning wake up call had me taking Courteney off to the set, we left home and got the the studio at 6am, now that’s early for Monday morning.
AKA and Da L.E.S were on the couch in the green room. We greeted politely, as we were the first of the dancers to arrive . Everyone came shortly afterwards the dancers warmed up and were ready to take center stage.
They performed their new track called Kontrol (this tune just makes you want to groove) and got the Rappers doing some dance moves too, that was fun and even crazier to watch live. I was busy behind the scenes taking pictures and recording the performance I love being in that atmosphere, it’s such a great opportunity for these dancers as well. Everyone was hyped after the performance taking pictures and having a good laugh.
More about AKA
2 X SAMA 18 Award Winner Kiernan Forbes (AKA), previously known for his part in the Hip Hop group Entity, has gone his separate way, allowing the spotlight to shine on his foreseen solo career. Now the rapper better known as AKA is a Winner of The Channel O Music Video Award and 4 X Metro FM Award Best Produced, Best Hip-Hop, Best Pop Single and Best Newcomer! AKA dabbles in voice over recordings, event MC, music production and is affiliated with the widely acclaimed SA music production group, IV League, but as a Hip-Hop Recording Artist, one can say he has found his true calling. His had a good run thus far performing overseas and alongside Kid Cudi , NEYO, Kanye West and D’Banj here in S A.
More about Da L.E.S
Rapper, entrepreneur, trend setting socialite and reality TV star are some of the titles that describe the phenomenon that is Da L.E.S. At only 26 years old this premier entertainer has had a career that has seen him share stages with heavyweights such as Kelly Rowland, Rick Ross, T-Pain and 2Face in concerts across the African continent. Da L.E.S has never been one to follow the status quo and this is evidenced through his story. He was born in Washington to South African parents who were studying in the United States and after spending his formative years in the U.S. the family returned to South Africa in 1993.
These are two guys to watch out for… if you into the South African Hip Hop scene they are hot off the press!
