Wine Festival Vibes – Pinotage on Tap

This weekend past on Saturday I got roped into a wine Festival ( I didn’t need much convincing lol) It is an annual event that happens this time of the year called Pinotage on Tap. A group of us hired a taxi for the day to take us to Wellington to Demiersfontein Wine Estate where the event was to be held. A chirpy Taxi Driver Toni and a rowdy excited group we all set off on our pino trip.

They call it “The people’s Pinotage” Diemersfontein‘s flag carrier, known as The Original Coffee Chocolate Pinotage! Since we first developed this Pinotage in 2001, as a new and original style, it has taken wine lovers throughout the world by storm!

The Weather was strange again rain overcast cold and the sun came to surprise us every now and again but that was not going to put us off we had a festival to attend.

Being my first time I didn’t know what to expect. We arrived and greeted by lovely staff of the event with goodie bags. Inside we received a  sandwich, a wine glass, 3 meal vouchers, a chocolate and a bottle of water. To my surprise the bands that were on the list to play was Gangs of Ballet quite a popular South African Band so that was very exciting.

So how the festival worked;

Your ticket (ZAR 340) included all meals and dessert including snacks for the day and you can drink as much pino as you would like. There were barrels of the famous Pinotage situated all over the venue so you could top up at your leisure. There were also water stations all over so you could keep hydrated too. it was a great festival vibe, people scattered all over picnicking on the lawn or under the marquee on hay bails.

The lunch options were chicken and potato wedges,vegetarian wraps and bangers and mash all delicious and well prepared. The chocolate Fountain is always a highlight  of the event with fruit and marshmallow skewers.  Silly me my camera batteries died before I could get all the yummy food pictures and my phone battery didn’t last to much longer either. I tried to capture as many pictures as I could.

This should definitely be an event to add to your to do list for next year it will totally be worth every cent you pay and a great day out. I will advise you to drink loads of water in-between your wine drinks as too many glasses of pino can sure knock you over the edge before even knowing it.

Hope you enjoy some of the captured moments below and let me know if you have been or of any other wine festivals that’s a must do!
